Rolfe Regular Council Meeting

Monday July 13, 2015

Rolfe Community Center, 6:30pm


Mayor Julie Lancaster called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.   Council present Al Kuchenreuther, Dan Allen, Carl Struve, Tom Andersen and Joe Ramaekers.  Ramaekers/Struve moved to approve the consent agenda including agenda, 6/10/15 minutes and bills and building permits for Burns and Onnen. All ayes. Carried.

De Sindergard gave treasurer’s report Struve/Andersen moved to approve treasurer’s report.  All ayes. Carried.

Mayor thanked all the groups and individuals for their help with Greater Rolfe Days. Clerk asked for contribution from council and staff to replenish the flower fund.

Mayor did receive two complaints, Mayor reminded that only yard waste can be burned in burn barrels and all pets need to be leashed.

Sonia Orwig with the Rolfe Rodeo and Saddle Club asked to have the hauling fees forgiven on the rock.  Allen/Andersen moved to forgive the truck hauling fees.  Ayes:  Kuchenreuther, Struve, Allen and Andersen. Nay: Ramaekers. Motion carried.

Sonia Orwig asked council if she could keep her horses at the north end of the rodeo grounds.  Discussion on rodeo lease agreement, liability issues.  City will check with city attorney on issues.

Mayor explained to council that all appropriate procedures have been followed nuisance abatements of junk cars.  Allen/Ramaekers moved to have Sergeant – White GMC towed.  All ayes. Carried.  Allen/Andersen moved to have Axtell – Green Pontiac Gran d Prix towed.  All ayes. Carried. Ramaekers/Allen moved to have Bode Spray Service – Red Pontiac, White Hearse, white truck, blue town car, white Fierro, back half of maroon truck towed.  All ayes. Carried.  Struve/Andersen moved to have Christensen – Villa Travel Trailer, Black Ford 5350, and white Ford Minivan.  All ayes.  Carried.

Kuchenreuther/Struve moved to renumber the street lighting resolution to #594-2.  All ayes. Carried.

Discussion on Sandvig has completed in natural gas CEU’s to be on call. Allen/Kuchenreuther moved to increase Sandvig’s wage $1.00.  All ayes.  Carried.

Clerk handed out three different definitions of enclosed structure.  Council agreed to use definition three into the junk/junk vehicle ordinance.

Council reviewed lagoon inspection.  DNR stated “facility appears to be in compliance and well maintained and operated. Council pleased with inspection report.

Kuchenreuther/Allen moved to sign contract with Iowa Codification to recodify ordinance book and pay down payment of $820.00.  All ayes. Carried.

Andersen/ Allen moved to sell property located on Walnut Street and hold public hearing on August 10th at 7pm, taking sealed bids, and option to raise bid.  All ayes.  Carried.

Sandvig informed council of a broken valve on circle drive that will be replaced.  Valve has warrantee, unclear if labor is.

Ramaekers/Struve moved to adjourn. All ayes.  Carried.
