Rolfe Regular Council Meeting

Monday September 11, 2017

Rolfe Community Center, 5:30pm


Mayor Julie Lancaster called the meeting to order at 5:32 pm and took roll call.  Council present Al Sroufe, Dan Allen Pat Sheda.  Absent Jon Wellik and Tom Andersen

Allen/Sheda moved to approve consent agenda, including agenda, 8/14/17 minutes and building permits for Peterson and Ramaekers.  All ayes. Carried.  De Sindergard gave treasurer’s report.  Sheda/Allen moved to approve treasurer’s report.  All ayes. Carried.

Council comments –Allen wondering how the nuisance abatements are going. They are in the process mayor added.

Clerk comments – Was scheduled for Court Monday the 18th but possibly be a continuance.  Clerk Attended the NNG Meeting.  NNG meteorologists predicts a colder winter clerk will watch budget customers.

Mayor comments – received letter from IA league of Cities about Angie attending Academy and her excellent work as a city clerk.

Citizen comments – Al Sroufe asked as a citizen. Hometown pride has asked Al if they could get a grant to work on his wall, but they cannot since it is not public property.  Asked council if they would like to purchase.  Will be placed on next month agenda. 

Complaint forms. – 1 dog complaint.

Allen/Sheda moved to approve the two liquor license for the Rolfe Area Market.  All ayes. Carried.

Sheda/Allen moved to set a City Wide Cleanup day for Monday October 9, 2017.  All ayes. Carried.

Allen/Sheda moved to approve Resolution #629 approving Fiscal year 16/17 Annual City Street Financial Report.  Ayes: Sroufe, Sheda and Allen.  Carried.

Mayor discussed with council one upcoming nuisance abatement.  Allen/Sheda moved to give Letch until September 30th to clean up before proceeding with court actions.  All ayes. Carried.

Mayor read Ordinance No. 218 amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Rolfe, Iowa, by Amending Chapter 110.04 Customer Connection fee in GAS Chapter and Chapter 92.08 Customer Connection Fee in Water Chapter.  Sheda/Allen moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance #218.  Ayes: Sroufe, Allen and Sheda.  Absent: Andersen and Wellik.  Carried.

Mayor stated there had been discussion with sharing on call weekends with Gilmore City, but will not work at this time.  No action taken.

Alliant Energy has cleaned out their building and is offering to sell it to the city in the amount of $8,000.00.  Discussion of using it for a recycling building. Clerk stated there is money in the recycling fund.  Sheda/Allen moved to purchase the building in the amount of $8000.00 once Angie gets all the legalities figured out.  All ayes. Carried.

Sheda/Sroufe moved to adjourn at 6:11pm.  All ayes. Carried.
